Communication, Other than ICT

To enhance passenger support throughout their journey, Biman places strong emphasis on training staff to communicate respectfully and effectively with passengers with disabilities, understand their needs and provide appropriate, tailored assistance.

The training program develops awareness and practical competencies for supporting passengers with different disabilities and accessibility requirements, with the objective of ensuring a safe, comfortable, dignified and inclusive travel experience.

Biman will continue to evaluate opportunities to strengthen accessibility-related training content and delivery methods. The accessibility training program was recently reviewed in consultation with the Accessibility Advisory Committee and updated to align with operational requirements, industry best practices and evolving passenger needs.

Procurement of Products, Services and Facilities

As part of an ongoing process, Biman Bangladesh Airlines continues to refine its procurement practices with consideration for the accessibility principles of Canadian legislation. Accessibility requirements are incorporated into relevant procurement policies and contracts.

Under this approach, accessibility is considered when procuring new products, services, equipment and facilities as part of Biman's commitment to removing accessibility barriers. Significant funding has been allocated for new wheelchairs and an ambulift, and additional procurement is planned to support accessibility standards.

Biman has identified potential internationally recognised manufacturers and specialised suppliers of products and services for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM).

Design and Delivery of Programs and Services

Biman strengthened its wheelchair services by increasing the number of wheelchairs in 2025 and is working to add more. A dedicated email address is available for passengers requesting wheelchair assistance.

Services for passengers with disabilities extend from booking through arrival and include wheelchair assistance, stretcher booking, priority boarding and the carriage of service animals. Biman is working to strengthen accessible check-in, boarding and disembarkation; support-person travel; service-dog and mobility-aid handling; personnel training; and the use of passenger feedback in service design and delivery.

Biman prioritises consultation with persons with disabilities and with the Accessibility Advisory Committee established in 2024.

Transportation

Biman Bangladesh Airlines prioritises the future procurement and deployment of accessible transportation solutions for passengers with disabilities and passengers with reduced mobility. This includes accessible support equipment and services such as wheelchair assistance, ambulifts and ramp coaches.

The airline works closely with airport authorities, ground-handling agencies and relevant service providers to facilitate accessible and seamless movement throughout the passenger journey, including movement between terminal facilities and aircraft boarding or disembarkation points.

Through these initiatives, Biman aims to strengthen accessibility standards and provide a safe, dignified and inclusive travel experience for all passengers.

Built Environment

To improve barrier-free access, Biman places significant emphasis on accessibility during the renovation and upgrading of existing facilities, including offices, ticketing offices, passenger lounges and airport-related facilities.

Biman continues to improve accessibility across airport facilities and onboard aircraft. Initiatives include mobility assistance, passenger guidance and support, onboard aisle chairs where applicable, and assistance with the handling and storage of baggage and mobility devices.

The airline will coordinate with airport authorities and relevant stakeholders to plan and implement accessibility enhancements that support a safer, more inclusive and dignified travel experience.

Provisions of CTA Accessibility-related Regulations

Biman complies with the Personnel Training for the Assistance of Persons with Disabilities Regulations (SOR/94-42) as part of its commitment under the Accessible Canada Act (ACA).

Feedback Information

Feedback received through Biman's designated channels is handled carefully and confidentially by dedicated staff. Each submission is systematically reviewed, evaluated and analysed to identify opportunities for continuous service improvement.

Passengers may submit accessibility-related feedback by email, telephone or the online form. Biman welcomes both anonymous and identified submissions and values comments, suggestions and concerns as sources of insight for improving accessibility, service quality and the overall passenger experience.

Consultations

To strengthen the implementation and continuous improvement of the Accessibility Plan, Biman conducts ongoing consultations with persons with disabilities and organisations that represent or support them.

Biman works closely with the Accessibility Advisory Committee, which includes subject-matter experts and representatives from various organisations. Consultation activities include structured meetings, workshops and engagement sessions to gather insights, identify barriers and incorporate practical recommendations.

The outcomes of these consultations support the continuous enhancement of Biman's accessibility initiatives and contribute to a safer, more inclusive and dignified travel experience for all passengers.
